NORTH VIETNAMESE ARMYAlso known as The People's Army of Vietnam, The North Vietnamese Army (NVA) was the fighting arm of the North Vietnamese communist government. They were better equipped and better trained than their Viet Cong counterparts, and were regular troops in contrast with the Viet Cong, who were usually guerrillas or insurgents.
The NVA sought to protect the Vietnamese homeland from foreign invaders and thus international interference into Vietnamese matters propelled the world into another war. RESOURCES BELOW

SOME QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:
1. Why did the NVA employ guerilla warfare as opposed to the warfighting methods employed by the US?
2. Could the NVA be considered professional soldiers?
3.. How did the NVA defeat the better equipped US Army?
4. To what extent could the NVA's success be attributed to the withdrawal of US forces?
5. Had US forces not withdrawn, do you think the war could have turned the other way?
