THE USAThe role of the United States in the Vietnam War began shortly after the Second World War. With the fear of communism engulfing the world and slowly moving across the globe, the US deployed into South Vietnam in a 'war against communism'. The U.S. had the largest foreign military presence, directing the war from 1965 to 1968 and American President Eisenhower was able to conduct military operations in Vietnam without any actual declaration of war.
